As co-leader of Namaste, along with Dr. Ann Stuart, Clinical Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy from Duquesne University, we are delighted to welcome Dr. Michelle Bradshaw, DC, OTR/L as our first guest speaker to present “OT Educators and Practitioners as Healers” for the new OT holistic support group Namaste offered by the Pennsylvania Occupational Therapy Association.

Our guest speaker Michelle explores many dimensions of healing in Occupational Therapy. Complementary health approaches to enhance health and wellness is presented. Self-care practices and harnessing inner knowledge is shared.

Namaste, Sharing Occupational Support offers monthly holistic online gatherings on the third Thursday of each month from 7-8:30 pm. There are 1.5 contact hours provided for attendees who remain for the entire session. Attendance is free for POTA members and cost $10.00/session for non-members with 100% of the proceeds going towards the PA OT Political Action Committee.

Misericordia University presenting Reiki, A Complementary Modality Used By Medical Professionals, Level I Certificate Provided – BEING RESCHEDULED

I’m excited to present this empowering Reiki Level I certificate course for OT, PT, Speech-Language, Nursing, and additional Medical Professional students, faculty, and practitioners at Misericordia University. This engaging 6-hour continuing education course provides the history and philosophy of Usui Reiki and includes numerous experiential activities regarding this biofield energy healing modality. Significant Reiki sharing and practice occurs with multiple partners. Attendees are able to provide Reiki to themselves, clients, family, friends, and colleagues immediately upon completion of this course. Lots of research and documentation that supports the medical profession’s acceptance of Reiki is provided.

AOTA Annual Conference: Incorporating Reiki Instruction, A Complementary and Integrative Health Biofield Energy Modality into OT Education – CONFERENCE CANCELED 3.10.20

I am excited to provide Reiki training information at the AOTA Annual Conference for the 6th year in a row!

This poster will describe the benefits of teaching a Reiki training course at university and college OT programs. Reiki research at Stockton University demonstrated that 9o% of college students participating in a 20-week study felt Reiki was effective in reducing their stress. A recent Harvard study with 1400 subjects reported statistically significant results that one session of Reiki reduced pain, stress, anxiety, nausea, and fatigue. A pre-post multivariate survey of 402 OT practitioners, faculty, and students stated that 93% of attendees at a one day, six-hour Usui Reiki Ryoho training course felt Reiki was a valuable modality to use with Occupational Therapy.

Highlights will be presented from a 2017 American Hospital Association nationwide survey that reports 42% of hospitals include complementary therapists in their services. This poster will present data to support Reiki experiential instruction within OT education to assist student preparation for integrative health care.

I am delighted to once again offer Reiki training at the AOTA Annual Conference for the 6th year in a row!

Come join us for this intermediate course in Reiki training. Attendees at Reiki Level II must have completed a Reiki Level I course with any Reiki Master. The scientific analysis of energy medicine, vibrational explorations including sound healing, spirituality, and client empowerment are presented. Current research, crystalline energy, and long-distance healing are explored with specific emphasis on using Reiki in medical and healthcare settings. Reiki symbology is taught to facilitate the cognitive use of Reiki principles. Extensive experiential practice with numerous partners synthesizes multiple Reiki Level I and Level II experiences.

Reiki Level II is taught in two back-to-back workshops from 8-11:00 and 12-3:00. Participants must attend both sessions. A Usui Reiki Ryoho Level II certificate will be received at the conclusion of the second workshop.

Am so excited to return to the AOTA Annual Conference in New Orleans, LA to present both Reiki Level I and Reiki Level II, for the 5th year in a row!

Please note that both Reiki workshops are being held in The New Orleans Marriott at 555 Canal Street, New Orleans. LA.

Reiki Level I: A Complementary and Integrative Health Modality Used with OT is presented as an Institute on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 from 12-6:30 pm.

Reiki history, philosophy, research, and AOTA documentation that supports the use of Reiki with OT are presented. Attunement to Reiki energy occurs followed by extensive experiential laboratory sessions that include giving, receiving, and sharing Reiki energy and experiences with multiple partners. Comprehensive complementary and integrative health resources and references are provided.

A Reiki Level I certificate will be received at the completion of this 6.0 contact hour workshop.

Reiki Level II: A Complementary and Integrative Health Modality Used with OT is presented in 6 hours with two back to back workshops the day after Reiki Level I, on Thursday, April 4, 2019, 8-11:00 am and 12-3:00 pm.

Attendees at Reiki Level II must have completed a Reiki Level I course with any Reiki Master. The scientific analysis of energy, vibrational explorations including sound healing, spirituality, and client empowerment are presented during this advanced training program. Current research, crystalline energy, and long distance healing are explored. Reiki symbology is taught to facilitate the cognitive use of Reiki healing techniques. Extensive lab experiential practice occurs with multiple partners.

Participants need to attend both Reiki II workshops. A Reiki Level II certificate in the Usui Natural Healing System is received at the conclusion of these two adjoining advanced workshop presentations designed for OT practitioners, faculty, and students.
